Fred C. Wasiak is a people-centered, purpose-driven nonprofit executive and servant leader with a lifelong commitment to human services and community development. His expertise is overseeing organizational transformations, leading organizations with budgets of $40+ million and 500+ staff, developing key staff and volunteer leaders, and building powerful community partnerships.
Fred’s background includes over 35 years of leadership and executive management experiences in all aspects of nonprofit operations, program and volunteer development, education, youth camping, training, consulting, and coaching. This includes 27 years in the YMCA from program director to CEO; Goodwill Industries of New Jersey and Philadelphia, Director of Community Resource Development; and currently serves as President and CEO of the Food Bank of South Jersey.
Fred is the Founder and Owner of Humanics Consulting, LLC. Since 2013, Fred has been providing a variety of consulting, training, keynote speaking engagements, and development services for board, staff, and nonprofit organizations.
Fred was named president and CEO of the Food Bank of South Jersey in 2018 and oversees all aspects of the organization, including financial sustainability, operational efficiency, community engagement, advocacy, staff enrichment, and board development.
During the most significant increase in food insecurity in more than a decade (COVID), Fred was able to lean on his high-performing leadership team and board to lead the Food Bank of South Jersey in building capacity in staff teams, network partners, and individuals served all in response to the growing need. This included implementing a Real-Time strategic plan – all while bolstering staff retention and resilience by emphasizing self-care, mindfulness, emotional intelligence, and a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
The Food Bank of South Jersey’s collective leadership created a culture of philanthropy and built an infrastructure to process, grow, and steward a combination of public support, institutional giving, and government grants over the course of five years. Fred oversaw sustainable fiscal initiatives, including paying off debt, purchasing a satellite program facility, securing a four-month operating reserve, and initiating a sustainability fund.
Fred was honored as Executive of the Year by South Jersey Biz in 2019, Power 50 Most Influential Professionals in 2021, and Power 50 in 2023; recognized by the Senator Walter Rand Institute for Public Affairs as South Jerseyan of the Year in the Nonprofit Sector in 2021; recognized as South Jersey Magazine’s 2022 Men of the Year; and in 2023, Today is the Day Changemakers Inspire Change honoree.
Fred holds a Master of Science degree in Human Services with a concentration in Organizational Management and Leadership from Springfield College and a Bachelor of Science degree from Niagara University. Coaching certifications and course work include Fowler International Academy of Professional Coaching; CTI’s Fundamentals of Co-Active Coaching; Total Leadership – Be a Better Leader, Have a Richer Life, Wharton Leadership Program; and a Certificate of Nonprofit Board Consulting, BoardSource.
Fred is very active for the Medford-Vincentown Rotary Club and most recently as President. He resides in South Jersey (lovely Pinelands) with his wife, Betsy; they have three wonderful children, one fantastic daughter-in-law, one awesome son-in-law, and three beautiful grandchildren.
